reindeer-express-2019

Main Street Guthrie Center and the Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce’s annual holiday community event is living up to its name this Saturday.

Reindeer Express taking place all throughout downtown Guthrie Center from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. will be featuring live reindeer at the Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library. Main Street Guthrie Center Director Dana Buster says it’s been a couple years since they’ve had members of Santa’s fleet visit, “They are so cool and all the kids really love them I really love them. And also at the library we’re going to have Santa so you can get photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus is going to be reading books to the kids and at the Cabbage Rose restaurant they are so kindly letting us use their restaurant to do cookie decorating so we’ll have Chamber and Main Street members there helping with the cookie decorating and then one more station that we have set up is at the Extension center we’re going to have a reindeer craft set up in there and also a reindeer food making station. So it’s just a really big day it’s very busy in our downtown and everyone is just really by December 7th in the holiday spirit, it’s just a really great day.”

Families are also encouraged to take part in the Reindeer Express challenge, where they must find at least six reindeer hidden in the participating downtown businesses, and then return their reindeer card to the Cabbage Rose restaurant to be entered to win adult and kid prizes. Ten businesses will also be serving refreshments and having special discounts. For more information listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
