Perry certainly had their chances to capture the program’s first conference win in more than a year but came up just short losing to Winterset 54-51 in RRC action Tuesday night from Madison County. The Jayettes had a chance to tie the game at the end of regulation but couldn’t muster a shot as time expired. Winterset used a decisive 12-0 run late in the third quarter to open up a 50-38 lead heading into the 4th quarter. Perry battled back and scored the first 8 points while holding Winterset scoreless for the first 6 minutes of the 4th quarter. Jena Young paced Winterset with 32 points and 6 rebounds as Winterset gobbled up 34 rebounds on the night including 13 offensive boards.
Molly Lutmer was strong for Perry leading the way with 27 points while Jayna Kenney added 8 points and Lydia Olejniczak and Kennedy Tunick each added 7 points. Kenney and Olejniczak hit double figures in rebounds.
Perry falls to 0-4 in conference play and 4-5 overall. The Jayettes host a top five program in Ballard this Friday night.
