Area school districts have many concerns about the closures due to the novel coronavirus 2019 pandemic, with one in particular being the fate of spring theater performances.
Students at both Perry and Adel-DeSoto-Minburn had been working since January on their spring musical and play, respectively, but with school postponed until at least April 13th in both districts the shows are in jeopardy. Perry has been working on the musical “Mamma Mia!” and music director Jenn Nelson says they’re unsure if the production will go on at a later date or be canceled. In the interim, she’s been sharing rehearsal videos on their social media to give the public a glimpse of the hard work the students have been doing.
As for ADM, they have so far decided that their play “D.O.A.” won’t be performed April 17-19. Director Molly Longman says rescheduling is feasible if they are able to return to a normal school schedule on April 13th as planned. However, she points out that the COVID-19 situation is constantly changing, so they won’t know for certain until that date gets closer.
