Due to Governor Kim Reynolds public health emergency proclamation as a preventative method to slow the spread of COVID-19, several businesses have been impacted in Greene County.
One of those industries is restaurants and bars. Jefferson Area Chamber of Commerce Board Secretary Jill Morton encourages everyone to continue to support those businesses.
“I think people are going to be tired of being home all the time anyway, I don’t know, if you can’t do something you want to do it, (and) one of those things is eating out. Just remember, they can carry-out, those that have drive-thru they can drive-thru, (and) some are offering delivery for a charge.”
A list of how local businesses are operating during the pandemic and how to contact them have been compiled by Jefferson Matters: Main Street and the Chamber. Morton adds, people need to continue to be nice to each other, especially those in tougher situations than others. She describes one way people can show kindness is at the grocery store.
“If you’re in the grocery store and you get that last bundle of toilet paper and you maybe see an older person with their cart looking in that area, and if you don’t need it, offer (it) to them, give it to them. Just love people and care about people.”
