The Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation recently announced grant recipients for their 2020 cycle, and several nonprofit entities in Dallas County were among the awardees.

GGCGC is the gaming licence holder of Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson, and as part of an agreement with the State of Iowa, they are allocated 5% of the casino’s adjusted gross revenues to present as local grants. As an adjacent county, Dallas receives a portion of that allocation annually, with nonprofits able to apply for funding. This year’s awards included: $6,000 to the Crisis Intervention and Advocacy Center for a transitional housing project; $8,000 to the Friends of the Minburn Public Library for renovations; $8,810 to Team Run Free for transportation and storage of adaptive run carts; and $20,000 to the City of Perry for the McCreary Community Building renovation project.

The $42,810 Dallas County received this year, as well as the cumulative $187,990.47 in the last five years, is equal to the funds distributed to Boone, Calhoun, Carroll, Guthrie, and Webster counties from the GGCGC.
