As the Jefferson Public Library continues to remain closed to the public due to COVID-19 concerns, there are several programs that people can still take advantage of.

Library Director Jane Millard says one popular program is called “Bridges.” She describes the program as a virtual library of books, audio books, movies and magazines that can be checked out with a library card. The program requires software to be downloaded onto an electronic device.

“You can check out, I believe it’s up to three books at a time, from Bridges. It’s a free service. This is something that is paid for by your tax dollars, so we really encourage everyone if you have a device, if you like to read on your device, to take advantage of more than 50,000 books to choose from online.”

Millard adds, in the month of April, 452 ebooks were checked out from Bridges. It is free to obtain a library card by contacting the library at 515-386-2835.
