Greene County softball head coach Tom Kennedy talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about the 2021 Rams, a team he thinks has a chance to be very competitive. The Rams have had four straight losing softball seasons, including going 5-11 in 2020. Greene County had a .500 second half to the COVID-19 shortened season after starting 1-7.

“There’s nothing like game situations to get better. We just played conference games, which made it a little tougher on us this year. I think we will make improvement. We have kids that will be a year older. We’ll have a pitcher (Emma Hoyle) that’ll be a three year starter, and I really think that’ll be a big deal. Plus, we’ve got some depth coming in that position now. The future looks a little brighter that way, and that’s where you always start in fast-pitch softball, the pitcher’s mound.”

About the Rams’ defense, which was shaky at times in 2020, the coach said, “We’ve just got to play better defense. It’s something I think we have the capability to do.”

Kyla Beyers, Izzy Bravard, and Tieryn Tucker, were the only seniors on the team.
