The Friends of the Linden Public Library are continuing to fundraise with a concession booth by the Raccoon River Valley Trailhead this weekend.

Library Director Julie Bishop tells Raccoon Valley Radio it was wonderful seeing bicyclists and others stop by their booth for their first fundraising event last weekend, and word of mouth about the effort even influenced people to stop by the library to give monetary donations leading up to the event. The non-profit Friends group is fundraising for several library improvements, including new books, new carpeting, and maybe someday a whole new facility. Friends member Karen Fluharty says the library is a vital part of the City of Linden, “It’s a great place for the kids to come in and they can use our WiFi, they can use our computers, any of the adults can also we’ve got it set up so anyone can come in if they don’t have their own internet or computers. And we’re trying to get new books in for people to check out.”

The Friends will be selling items like homemade cookies, granola bars, pickles on a stick, and more in front of the old gas station from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday into September.
