A Jefferson resident was recently featured in a publication from Iowa State University.

Carole Custer is one of 80 women mentioned in the summer issue of the ISU Alumni Association’s VISIONS magazine in the article, “Visionary women: A selection of curious, distinguished, trailblazing, and fascinating women who chose to spend time on the Iowa State campus.”

Custer was hired as the assistant to the ISU president for marketing in 1987. Prior to that Custer worked as the director of marketing for the Iowa Lottery. Over the next 30 years, Custer created the office of university marketing, where she had up to 40 projects in development at any one time. She is also helping to create the new Student Innovation Center that is scheduled to open during the 2020-2021 school year.

Other accomplishments Custer has received include the Young Alumna Achievement Award, and Staff Member of the Year from the university’s Student Government Department.
