Area residents can receive a festive holiday plant and enter to win a $100 Chamber Bucks prize during Small Business Saturday in Guthrie Center.

Several businesses will be having discounts and other specials on Saturday, November 28th, and those who spend $50 at any downtown retailer or business can bring their proof of receipt to Art on State from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to receive a free poinsettia. Shoppers can also enter to win one of 10 $100 Chamber bucks prizes being given out if they spend $25 at a Guthrie Center business from November 27-December 18th.

Main Street Director Dana Buster encourages residents to support local businesses this holiday season, “One thing that I always try to tell people is things that you buy at a small retail shop, they tend to be more special and more appreciated gifts than kind of the big box-retailer gifts that everyone is getting. A lot of the things that are down here in Guthrie Center are unique, they’re only carried here at a business and they make really great gifts so we encourage everyone to at least come down and check out what our retailers have to offer.”

Buster adds that supporting local retail is even more important after the holiday season, and the public can earn their way to a poinsettia or enter the Shop Guthrie Center Giveaway by purchasing a gift card or certificate for yourself or others to spend in the future.
