With winter weather set to hit the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area, it’s important to remember the snow ordinances for the cities of Perry and Adel.

Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn reminds everyone that when the City’s snow ordinance is in effect, all cars should be removed from city streets when there is at least one-half inch of snow or more to allow plows to clear the streets.

Also, Vaughn says with this storm the cars need to be off the streets until it stops snowing, which could be an increased amount of time, and until the road is plowed from curb to curb.

For Adel residents, the snow ordinance/snow parking-ban goes into effect at the beginning of snowfall and can continue for a period of 24-hours after the snowfall has ceased. If your vehicle is not moved during the snow parking-ban it can be towed at the owner’s expense and could incur a $25 violation penalty.
