The Stuart City Council will meet this evening and hear a proposal concerning new management for the Saints Center.

The current ownership submitted a letter to the Council in December’s meeting requesting termination of the 99-year lease. The Council denied that request and forwarded the matter to the attorney for the Utilities Board.

The Council will also hear a presentation from resident Jason Steenhoek concerning the easement on his property. Steenhoek also appeared at the regular December meeting regarding the same issue.

Chamber of Commerce Director Brenda Dudley will make a presentation regarding purchasing a car similar to the one Bonnie and Clyde used in their last robbery in 1934. Dudley will also provide a report of the Stuart Depot.

Councilmembers will also consider amending the city code to allow a one-way alley for a coffee shop expected to open later this month. They will also consider a pay estimate to Concrete Technologies for the All Saints Addition.

Economic Development Director and Assistant City Administrator Kristen Renslow will also make a presentation to the Council concerning a new warning siren, an application for tax abatement and a park proposal in phase 2 of the Wambold Addition.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. In-person attendees must wear a mask and comply with the six-foot social distance protocol. To attend the meeting by phone, call 646-749-3122 and enter access code 711-811-173#
