The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors held a discussion on converting Facilities Manager Brandon Thompson from hourly to a salaried position as part of their meeting Thursday morning.

Thompson provided the Supervisors with his department’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2022. Supervisor Chair Mike Dickson then opened the discussion on Thompson’s role with the county and the projected salary of $75,000 annually. Supervisor Cliff Carney said Thompson is deserving of the conversion, and Supervisor JD Kuester mentioned the number of roles Thompson fills with the county helps save them money when something does need to be fixed.

Following the discussion, the Board did not take action.

County Attorney Brenna Bird discussed the new fiscal year budgets for the Attorney’s Office, District Court, Grand Jury and Petit Jury. She also provided an update to the Board concerning collections for January and jury trials to resume in the county on March 9.

Bird reported that her office handled 60 new criminal cases in January. She said there was an increase in assaults and violence as well as alcohol related crimes. No actions were taken on the budget proposals.

County Treasurer Marci Schreck presented an assigning of a tax sale certificate for a Diamondhead Lake property the county has had since 2010. The outstanding amount of owed taxes was just over $1,300. The Supervisors unanimously passed the certificate to Rich Peters, along with paying the back taxes of $1,313.

Finally the Board accepted the fiscal year 2020 Annual Urban Renewal Report, announced all four interviews for the Human Resources Coordinator position were scheduled and appointed Dave Arganbright to the Zoning Commission.
