letters-2

Today is the busiest day of the Spring when it comes to the Greene County High School sports calendar. That is, if the weather cooperates as there is a chance of rain. The Rams have boys’ soccer at home, girls’ soccer on the road, girls’ golf at home, boys’ golf away, and the girls and boys track & field squads are away from home.

Here’s how the schedule breaks down. Coach Heath Telleen’s boys’ golfers are scheduled to play at Perry vs. the Blue Jays, Des Moines Christian, and Gilbert. Coach Josh Carlson’s girls’ golfers are set to host those same three schools at The Hill east of Grand Junction.

Tonight is the scheduled season opener for first year head girls’ soccer coach Peyton Paddock’s Rams as they play at Carroll Athletic Field vs. the Carroll Tigers. Due to low numbers for the Rams, the varsity match is set for 5:30 p.m. with a shortened JV match to follow. Greene County boys are 1-2 on the young soccer season with three extremely close matches. The home field for the Rams in soccer is Karber Field in Grand Junction with Coach Carl Behne’s boys playing JV at 5:30 p.m. and varsity around 7 o’clock, also vs. Carroll High.

The track & field schedule has the Rams in Van Meter tonight for a coed meet, just 48 hours after competing very well at the Kip Janvrin Coed Invitational at Panorama High School in Panora.  Derek Merk is head coach of the girls and Chad Morton leads the boys’ program.
