
Class 3A District Races were very competitive for the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs, and the teams were able to find some solid results as the girls were able to win the district to qualify for state, and the boys getting a big mark with a 2nd place finish.
Kileigh Lachacz was able to put up a big mark in 38-6 in shot put, grabbing a first place finish. She also was able to grab first in discus with an effort of 124-08. The 4×400 team grabbed first with a time of 4 minutes and 9 seconds. The 4×800 team was able to grab a first place finish of 9 minutes and 42 seconds, and in the 800 sprint medley relay with a time of 1 minute 54 seconds.
On the boys side, they were able to qualify a few athletes for state, including Blake Willey and Grant Waymire in the shot put, and Brody Burgher and Gavin Rupp in the discus throw. In the 1600 race, Aiden Ramsey was able to grab 2nd with a time of 4 minutes 40 seconds. Caden Grimes grabbed 2nd in the 200 meter run at 22.96 seconds. Zach Brand placed first in the 100 meter dash at 11.36 seconds. The 4×100 team also grabbed first as well.
Congrats to all of the teams and athletes for advancing, as they will look for some finishes on the podium at the state meet in Des Moines next week.
