
A severe thunderstorm warning late Wednesday night brought heavy rainfall and high winds to portions of Guthrie and Greene counties.
Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team began its live coverage of the severe thunderstorm warning that was issued by the National Weather Service at 10:23pm for Guthrie County and southwestern Greene County. The primary threats were 50-60 miles per hour winds, heavy rainfall and quarter sized hail.
Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf reported heavy enough rainfall in Guthrie Center that would cause motorists to reduce their speed and possibly pull over to the side of the road, due to low visibility. He added that there were no reports of hail in Guthrie County and there were no immediate reports of property damage. Greene County Dispatch reported the sheriff and deputy were dispatched to the western and southwestern portions of the county where there was only heavy rainfall and lighting. Additionally, there were no immediate reports of property damage. The warning expired at 11:19pm.
