early-voting

As National Voter Registration Month continues throughout September, there are important reasons for people to vote in local elections.

Dallas County Auditor Julia Helms says people should remember that when the upcoming November 2nd city-school elections take place, of the impact that local candidates do for their communities and them personally.

“That would be voting for your city councils, your mayors and your school board members and remember those are the people that work through their budgets during the year and your taxes on your tax statement, your property taxes, go to both cities/counties and your school district. So, it’s important to see who is also running for those races.”

Helm tells Raccoon Valley Radio while people are preparing to hit the polls in the upcoming election, they need to make sure they have the right polling locations.

“On Election Day, you’ll need to double check where you’re voting, because of city-school there is going to be combined precincts because of the (historically) low turnout.”

Helm says to check where your polling location will be you can go to the Secretary of State here website or you can call the Dallas County Auditor’s Office at 515-993-6914.
