The filing deadline for nomination papers for the upcoming mayoral, city council and school board elections in Guthrie County is tomorrow.

According to Guthrie County Auditor Dani Fink, the filing period for candidates is from August 23rd-September 16th.There are signature requirements that must be met to be eligible for the November election. For city council and mayoral elections there must be a minimum of ten signatures. As for school board elections, a potential candidate must get at least 10 signatures with exceptions to the Guthrie Center School District needing 19 signatures and Bayard needing 18.  

The following terms for Mayor are currently up for election: City of Bagley Ruth Riley, City of Bayard Tom Wardyn, City of Casey Nick Lindberg, Guthrie Center Mike Herbert and City of Jamaica Tim McDermott. The following school districts each have three seats available, including Guthrie Center, Coon Rapids-Bayard and Panorama. 

City council candidates must turn in their nomination papers to the County Auditor’s office by 5pm tomorrow and school board candidates are to submit their nomination papers to their respective school board secretary by 5pm. Nomination papers are available at the County Auditor’s office, school district offices and city halls.
