October has brought another month of awareness, and this month is National Physical Therapy Month.
21st Century Rehabilitation Director Clint Lutterman says with Physical Therapy Month people should be thinking about all of the activities that they will soon be taking part in, including outside work.
“A great reminder I think for the month of October as we start to see leaves fall and people are out and cleaning up their yards and raking leaves, and you’re moving (in) ways that you’re not used to moving, and you start to get those sore muscles, the sore backs doing those things.”
Lutterman tells Raccoon Valley Radio this month serves as a good reminder as people may begin experiencing aches and pains and if it’s something that lingers it may be something that physical therapy could help. Lutterman explains what physical therapy aims to do.
“The biggest thing is restoring function. How can we get you back to doing the things that you want to do, moving the way you want to move and how you should move so that you can do all of the things that you want to do?”
Lutterman adds the way to achieve this goal is through movement.
