It’s National 4-H Week and there’s lots of opportunities for Greene County 4-H’ers to show off their pride.

Greene County Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Kayla Willms says 4-H’ers began the week decorating several storefront windows of businesses in Jefferson, the Paton-Churdan School District and Grand Junction. She points out the 4-H’ers who decorated the winning window will receive a pizza party. Willms also encourages 4-H’ers to wear their t-shirts this week. She notes that when you do, take a selfie and put it on Facebook with the hashtag #GC4HGrowsLeaders2021. Those who participate will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Another activity is referring a new member to 4-H. Willms says any current 4-H’er that refer a new member will also be entered into a drawing for prizes.

Willms talks about the impact the local 4-H program has on the kids in the county.

“We have over 150 4-H’ers throughout the county here and close to 50 Clover Kids. So we have a good number ranging from 1st grade to 12th grade of 4-H’ers throughout the community. They are excited to do different things and be a part of the community and also show their support.”

Winners of the contests will be given their awards at the December/January 4-H club meetings. National 4-H Week is from October 3rd-9th.
