We are coming up to the city/school board elections, which means there might be candidate signs placed on a homeowner’s property.

Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer reminds residents that have their favorite candidate for city council or school board to not place signs on the public easement or right-of-way, which is the area between the street and sidewalk for most residences. Palmer explains what may happen if signs appear on the right-of-way.

“You’ll be asked to either take them out and move them back or if they start to get too many and they get too cluttered, then the city actually can have the authority to come by and pick them up and take them out for you. But we’d rather not have that happen.”

Palmer encourages those who want to have signs supporting their candidate and most signs are the size of a typical home real estate sign.
