The 10th Annual Raccoon Valley Radio Caring Christmas Food Drives are currently underway and there will be broadcasts at multiple stores this weekend.

The Big Red Radio and Little Big Red Radio will be at an assortment of locations around the listening area throughout the next month collecting donations to fill the local food pantries. The food drives will be Friday at the Main Street Market in Anita sponsored by Anita Supply Center. Then on  Saturday, remote broadcasts are slated for Perry Fareway from 10am to noon sponsored by Perry Lutheran Homes. Additionally there will be more locations on Saturday at the Hardware Hank from 1-3pm  in Coon Rapids and at Hometown Market in Earlham from 2-4pm.

Raccoon Valley Radio reminds listeners that donating to the food drive will also enter you into the Caring Christmas Cash Giveaway. General Manager John McGee explains that participants that register can win a cash prize.

We give away $1,000 on each of our stations. So one lucky person on December 20th will get a check for $,1000 on K107 on KDLS and on KGRA, so we’ll give away up to $3,000 there $1,000 to each winner, making somebody’s Christmas just a little bit brighter. And then we’ve got some on-air contesting that we do or we’ve got another $3,000 budget that we’re given away and those come in smaller, you know, $20 to to $100 increments and just a little extra cash to help somebody out this holiday season.”

You can find all the ways to register for the grand prize online. Additionally, there is the ability to donate virtually. Every Christmas Cash Call registration box will have a scannable QR code that will direct you to a secure donation website tied directly to the food pantry in the area.
