Dallas Center – Grimes Mustangs track and field competed in their district track and field met on Thursday in Adel, and the Mustangs got good individual performances, with multiple runners on both the boys and the girls teams making to the state meet next week. The boys finish 1st with 194 points, and the girls second with 163.5 points.

For the girls, Skyler Blessman finishes first in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2 minutes 29 seconds. The sprint medley team is first with a time of 1 minute 50 seconds. The 4×400 meter relay team is first with a time of 4 minutes 11 seconds. The girls 4×800 meter relay team grabs a time of 9 minutes 53 seconds. Kaleigh Lachacz is first in the discus throw with a distance of 123-00. Lachacz is also first in the shot put with a mark of 38-11.

On the boys side, Daniel Onwuramaka was able to get a first place finish in the 400 meter dash a time of 49.84 seconds. In the boys 800, Aiden Ramsey is first with a time of 1 minute 59 seconds. Owen Pries is first in the 1600 meter dash with a time of 4:34:80, finishing just ahead of Ramsey. Ben Every is first in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10 minutes 1 second. Anthony Glay is first in the long jump with a jump of 21-08. Carter Boley is first in the shot put a throw of 54-04. The boys sprint medley is first with a time of 1 minute 33 seconds. The 4×400 meter run is first with a time of 3 minutes 26 seconds. The boys 4×800 meter relay team is first with a time of 8 minutes 20 seconds. The distance medley is first with a time of 3 minutes 37 seconds.

DCG boys and girls teams will be competing in the 3A state track and field on May 19th-21st next week, the Raccoon Valley Radio Network will be having life updates from Drake University in Des Moines throughout the three day event.
