Greene County and West Marshall played Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball on Wednesday evening in State Center. The Rams were going for the two game season series sweep of the Trojans, but WM won 3-1. The Rams fell to 8-11 on the season and 4-8 in the conference while WM improved to 11-11 overall and 6-6 in the HOIAC.

Junior Emma Hoyle pitched for the Rams and allowed three earned runs on seven hits and three walks while collecting seven strikeouts. Greene County had two errors and WM had one.

The Rams only struck out once vs. freshman pitcher Bella Borgos, but a run in the fourth is all they could put on the board. The Trojans scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth. Greene County had just two hits. Senior Carmyn Paup doubled and freshman Chanlyn Cunningham singled and drove in the lone run for the Rams.

Next up is a home game with Perry on Monday at the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway in Jefferson at approximately 7:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
