In late January, the Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center School District named Joshua Rasmussen as the new superintendent; the former Atlantic Middle School says he’s excited to get going.

Rasmussen says that today is  his first day on the job as the AC/GC Superintendent and he is thrilled to move into the new role.

“I think this has been a goal of mine for a while. Just to become a leader of a district. I started out here in Atlantic as a teacher and as a principal for the last nine years. But now I’m just looking forward to that next kind of part of my career and moving into a superintendent leadership role for AC/GC.”

He says the pride that the AC/GC School District has in their academics, athletics and employees is something he wanted to be a part of. Rasmussen discusses his number one goal for the 2022-23 school year.

“Just getting to know the people. So my first goal was just to, to learn, the names and the buildings and, and build those relationships not only within the school district and school boards, but also within the community and really find out what’s working and build off of that. So that’s what I’m really looking forward to and looking forward to get started here in the month of July.”

Rasmussen adds that he has had family members attend both Adair-Casey and Guthrie Center schools before they combined so he recognizes how big the school is to the community.
