There is ongoing construction on Highway 44 from Guthrie Center to Panora causing delays for motorists.
Iowa Department of Transportation Construction Supervisor Jeff Huntsman says they are widening the road and overlaying it with asphalt. Huntsman explains that motorists will see delays of 8-10 minutes when traveling from the east city limits of Guthrie Center to the West city limits of Panora for roughly seven miles..
“They’ll do the widening first and they’ll start in the top left on and it’ll just take a couple three weeks to get them done and they’ll put new rock on the shoulders.”
Huntsman notes if the weather doesn’t cause delays, the construction will get done in the first week of August. He cautions motorists to be patient and drive the speed limit.
