As the 2022 Greene County Fair rolls into the weekend, tomorrow will have a full slate of activities.

The day begins with the popular 4-H/FFA Beef Show in the show ring at 8am, followed by the Jefferson Kiwanis Club Story Stroll by the Freedom Rock at 9am. At noon will be the Kid’s Pedal Pull, sponsored by Greene County Farm Bureau in the North Hall, along with the 4-H Horse Fun Show at the horse arena. From 2-7pm there will be laser tag at the shelter house and archery tag will be from 1-7pm.

The evening activities include the baby contest at Clover Hall at 5:30pm, along with the Pork and Lamb Barbecue in the North Hall, sponsored by the Greene County Pork and Lamb Producers. Greene County Fair Board President Conner Juergensen talks about the partnerships they have with all of the livestock producers in the county.

“They have just as much at risk of getting their product out there (and) showing everybody what they have to offer. So they really have a sense for being there, and enjoying it, and getting their product out there, and cooking for the community.”

Prior to the grandstand entertainment is the VFW Cafe, where people can get food and drink before the Lucas Oil Tractor and Truck Pull at 7pm. Juergensen explains why they wanted to bring back Saturday night’s grandstand event.

“It’s such a high calibur event. People travel from several states away. You’ll get people from Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, (and) Illinois. They truly dedicate their summer to this and they built some great machines to compete in these classes. It’s just a really good showcase for the kind of fun agriculture in our area and what they can do for these old tractors, old pickups and horsepower.”

General admission is $10 per person. Additionally, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Lil’ Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live from the fair from 10am-6pm tomorrow.
