The Whiterock Conservancy is having a stargazing hike that is open to the public and free this weekend.

Marketing Director Shae Rossetti says the first ever “Wild Whiterock: Night Hike will take place this Saturday from 9-11pm at the Star Field Campground in Coon Rapids. Rossetti says the hike will be led by the Learning Coordinator Susan Hill and she will take participants on a two mile hike through the Little Dipper Trail. She notes everyone involved will learn about night creatures along with hiking under the stars.

“It’s really encouraging people to kind of get in touch with nature at night. It’s a different experience that instead of just hiking during the day, everything looks so different. It’s so dark out there and just a beautiful, you know, little different view.”

Rossetti encourages those to register at the link provided and then bring a flashlight or headlamp for visibility on the hike. Participants will meet at the kiosk at the Star Field Campground on Saturday at 9:30pm.
