The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During reports, County Environmental Administrator Chuck Wenthold told the Supervisors about a nursery hog operation that is being built east of Cooper. He said since the facility will have less than 500 head of hogs, it does not have to go through the master matrix or have to be handled by the county.

County Engineer Wade Weiss reported that Fort Dodge Asphalt was the winning bidder for the County Road E-57 overlay project of 4.5 miles from Highway 4 to County Road P-14 for $2,303,283.

The Board then approved a $2.4 million communications system and services agreement with Motorola Solutions, Incorporated for the communications tower site, radios and associated equipment, with the contingency of extending the confidentiality portion indefinitely instead of four years. They also approved hiring Krista Reed as a full time dispatcher for the sheriff’s office with a $37,000 salary and a $1,000 pay increase once she is certified.

Additionally, the Board approved a wine permit for Deal’s Orchard, the annual urban renewal report for fiscal year 2022, a $1,315,000 tax increment financing request from the 125 wind turbines for the 2024 fiscal year and they approved Supervisor Pete Bardole and Supervisor-Elect Dan Benitz as the additional signatories for county checks that are more than $40,000.
