A former Churdan resident was recently sentenced to probation for a September 2022 incident in Greene County.

According to court documents, 32-year-old Ashley Kuenster pled guilty to two Class D Felonies for second degree theft and her third offense for possession of methamphetamine. She had her two five year prison sentences suspended and was placed on probation for three years with the Iowa Department of Corrections.

The charges stemmed from an incident that happened on September 20th. Kuenster stole a van that was parked at a Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. The van was recovered in Ames and when a search warrant was executed at Kuenster’s home in Churdan, several drug-related items were also recovered.

Court documents show the Class D Felony for second degree theft was amended from a Class C Felony for first degree theft, and another felony for a third or subsequent possession of a controlled substance and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed. She was also ordered to pay for victim restitution.
