The Perry Parks and Recreation Department recently named Marco Perla as their recreation coordinator, and he discusses his goals.
Perla is a Perry native and a graduate of Perry High School and holds a degree from Iowa State University in Community and Regional Planning. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that his goal is to build programs that keep the youth interested and active.
“I’m excited for all the kids. You know, they get out of school. They’ve been sitting all day. They’re going to want to do something. So hopefully, you know, they come to enjoy the building, use the rec center, use the parks, and hopefully we have programs for them to, you know, dive from school into physical activity if they aren’t already doing that.”
Perla says that parents or guardians should keep an eye out for youth winter sport registrations such as volleyball and basketball.
