dd-101-class

A new program is starting up with the Jefferson Library Youth Services Department.

Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount says a Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) 101 class will be held on Friday from 6-8pm in the basement meeting room of the Sierra Community Theatre in Jefferson. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio kids have been asking to have something like this for years and that she believes D&D is growing like never before. Mount was looking for a way to involve more teens and this was one way to do that.

Mount appreciates the library’s partnership with the community movie theater and for the manager, Sarah Nicholson’s faith in doing something a little more unique than in the past. Mount is also hoping to make this a more regular “Table Top Theatre” with more tabletop gaming like Pokémon and Magic the Gathering.

There will be two age groups at the program on Friday, including Explorers for 4th through 8th grade and Adventurers for 9th through 12th grade. Materials such as dice, pencils, handbooks, and character sheets will be available for free and youth are invited to learn the basics of D&D and how to build a character. Concessions will be available for purchase. Click the link below to register or contact the Youth Services Department at 515-386-4415 or email at jplstaff2@gmail.com.
