
We continue our review of the AC/GC Chargers boys and girls basketball teams statistics for the 2023-24 season.
For the girls, sophomore Savannah Akers played in 13 of the team’s games, scoring on her only shot, and recording 1 offensive and 2 defensive rebounds for a total of 3, 1 block and 2 points. Fellow sophomore Becca Littler competed in all 22 of the team’s games, making 22 of 72 shots from the floor for a field goal percentage of 30.6%, 11 of 46 shots from beyond the arch for a 3 point percentage of 23.9% and an effective field goal percentage of 38.2%, and made 30 of 24 shots from the charity stripe for a free throw percentage of 83.3%. She also recorded 10 offensive and 21 defensive rebounds for a total of 31, 21 assists, 32 steals, 1 block and 75 points.
For the boys, freshman Preston Kent played in 4 of the team’s games, gaining some valuable experience for future seasons. Junior Noah Kading started in all 23 of the team’s games, making 102 of 216 shots from the floor for a field goal percentage of 47.2%, 20 of 63 shots from beyond the arch for a 3 point percentage of 31.7% and an effective field goal percentage of 51.9%, and made 53 of 88 shots from the charity stripe for a free throw percentage of 60.2%. He also recorded 38 offensive and 78 defensive rebounds for a total of 116, 106 assists, 35 steals, 26 blocks and 277 points.
Kading averaged 4.6 assists, the 3rd highest in conference, a 3.79 assist to turnover ratio, 2nd in conference and a Top 10 athlete for Class 1A, 1.1 blocks for 5th in conference and 3.8 free throw attempts per game, setting him at 10th in conference. He also set the game record for assists with 11, and the season record for assists with 106, while tying the game record for blocks in a game with 4.
