Thursday morning rains gave way to sunshine later in the day for the Carroll Tiger Relays at Carroll Athletic Field, although cool and windy conditions persisted. Greene County had both its high school girls and boys track & field teams in action along with 10 other schools. The Rams were eighth among 11 boys’ teams and eighth in a field of eight girls’ squads. Gilbert won both the girls and boys team titles.
The Rams had one first place finish for boys in the sprint medley relay in 1:40.08 with senior Trey Schilling, junior Nick Stream, sophomore Drew Wolterman, and sophomore Nick Madsen. Wolterman was second in the 400 meter dash in :53.43 seconds.
The girls also had one winning event. Junior Emma Ewalt won the discus throw with a personal best toss of 113′ 9″. Junior Payton Kokenge was second in the high jump at 4′ 10″ and the distance medley relay was second in 4::40.62 with sophomore Addison Gannon, senior Kaylee Stalder, sophomore Savanah Lansman, and sophomore Kaycee Pittman.
