The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center School Boards met in regular session on Wednesday.

Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that the Boards first held a public hearing regarding the 2024-25 Certified Budget, and with no comments moved into the regular session. He adds that they then heard a special presentation from some of the seniors on their trip to Washington D.C.

“So senior(s) Andrew Mahaffey and Kelsey Carlson went ahead and presented to both Boards on their trip that they took back in March, and really just kind of showed pictures of all the places that they visited out there. The memorials and museums, and really just kind of highlighted the positives and kind of their, whether it’s high school career or school career really, as graduation is coming up here next month. But a really good presentation, and they just wanted the Boards to know that they were thankful they allowed them to go and participate in a trip like that. So that was really nice.”

Rasmussen mentions that the Boards then approved personnel changes, then discussed school safety pertaining to funds from the school safety grant and Area Education Agency classroom rental, along with upcoming dates including the May regular Board meeting, Baccalaureate and Awards Night on May 15th at 6pm and commencement on May 19th at 1pm. He adds that they also approved the 2024-25 Certified Budget, winter sports coaching contracts and employee benefit program.

The Boards then discussed their respective district’s equipment breakdown insurance, and the GC Board chose not to renew their contract when it came up for renewal this year, as the insurance is not used enough to offset the cost of having it. The AC Board still has one year left on their contract. To finish off the meeting, both Boards individually approved purchase and bidding Board policies, and the GC Board approved the Class of 2024 Graduates list.
