Tomorrow several people are golfing for a good cause in Jefferson, with evening entertainment to follow.

The Heckle Open will be held at the Jefferson Community Golf Course beginning at noon with a shotgun start. Clubhouse Manager Joe Foote tells Raccoon Valley Radio there are 16 4-person teams as a fundraiser for the People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Greene County.

Then in the evening there will be a comedy show at the clubhouse starting at 8pm. Six comedians will be entertaining the crowd. Tickets are $15 at the door and there is limited seating left. All of the ticket sales will also benefit PAWS.

PAWS President Ann Wenthold says the organizer, Jeremy Cartwright, approached PAWS about coordinating a fundraiser because it combined his three passions: golf, comedy and animals. Wenthold notes the proceeds will be used to pay for the animals at the shelter, their veterinarian bills, purchasing microchips, along with cat food, dog and cat medications, vaccinations, and other needed items or services for the animals. She adds that Cartwright is very generous for doing something like this and she is thankful for it.
