The McCreary Community Building in Perry offers a space for residents to use for a multitude of reasons, and recent updates have been made for better accommodations.
Perry Deputy Parks & Recreation Director Becky Halling tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the organization did an upgrade making the previous theater to a 24/7 access fitness center about three years ago. She says the gym has been worked on with new hoops and paint on the walls.
Halling mentions that a children’s watch room gives parents a place to take their kids while they exercise, but she stresses that parents/guardians must stay within the building while their child/children are being supervised. Halling describes future updates that will go towards the pool area.
“We are working on updating our splash pad area into more of a playground area for those kids who want to get out and burn some energy when it’s nicer out.”
Halling notes that the memberships range from $17 to $36, plus the daily fee of $3 for youth and $5 for adults. The McCreary Community Building is open seven days a week with hours varying and is located at 1800 Pattee Street, in Perry.
