Greene County qualified senior Noah Hinote for the Nov. 2 Class 2A State Coed Cross-Country meet north of Ft. Dodge at Kennedy Park. The Rams ran at the 2A State Qualifying Meet in Red Oak on Thursday. Hinote was eighth overall in the five kilometers (3.1 miles) for boys and he’s joined a select few boys from the Jefferson based program to make it to State three times. He ran in 2A as a sophomore, 3A last year, and 2A this season. Hinote was timed in 17:56.61 and was the only Greene County runner, male or female, to advance to State.

The boys from Greene County finished in eighth place among 13 teams with 220 points. The girls were eighth among nine squad with 235 points.

Second on the Greene County boys’ team was junior Carter Hinote, 36th in 19:26.49, followed by freshman Nick Black, 44th in 19:55.85, freshman Kole Johnson-Peterson, 62nd in 21:10.95, and sophomore Eli Carstensen, 70th in 21:39.60.

Freshman Riley Mowrer led the Greene County girls in 24:53.88, good for 34th place. Senior Ava Jablonski was second on the Greene County girls’ team in 51st place in 27:30.27, followed by sophomore Evelyn Snyder, 52nd in 27:35.70,. Freshman Cora Powers was 66th in 31:27.05, and junior Leah McCormick was 69th in 37:22.36.
