
The annual Heart of Iowa Activities Coed Track & Field meet was held Thursday in State Center hosted by West Marshall. Greene County finished third in the girls’ team race and fourth on the boys’ side. Roland-Story (Story City) won the girls’ team title with 166 points, followed by PCM (Monroe) at 122, Greene County 94, Perry 84, Grand View Christian (Des Moines) 79, South Hamilton (Jewell) 63, West Marshall 62, Nevada 53, and Saydel (Des Moines) 15. PCM won the team title for boys with 159 points. Nevada had 138.5 points with 116.5 by R-S, and the Rams had 83 points. WM scored 77, followed by SH 65, GVC 38, Perry 33, and 30 points for Saydel.
For the Greene County girls, the distance medley relay placed first in 4:27.55 with sophomore Sara Morlan, junior Becca Anderson, junior Addison Gannon, and junior Kaycee Pittman. Senior Daniele Madsen won the shot put at 36 feet, two inches, and senior Emma Ewalt placed first in the discus throw with a best effort of 116 feet, one inch. Pittman ran a season best 2:27.16 for 800 meters and placed second.
The boys from Greene County scored first place points from junior Drew Wolterman in the 800 meter run in 2:02.95. Wolterman anchored the winning 4 x 800 meter relay in a season best time of 8:15.72 with senior Nick Stream, senior Crew Conner, and senior Noah Hinote running the first three legs. Senior Kamden Kinne won the shot put with a career best distance of 50 feet, 11 inches, and senior Isaac Carman is the discus throw champion at 158 feet, nine inches.
All that’s left for the Rams is the postseason, which starts on May 15 in Ogden for a Class 2A State Qualifying Meet.
