
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team managed to win one game in a double header matchup versus Bondurant-Farrar at home on Monday.
The Tigers beat the Bluejays 3-2 with a walk off bunt from Lauren Hagedorn, as Bondurant-Farrar came back to take a 5-4 victory in game number two. Raccoon Valley Radio broadcasted the second game, which saw the Bluejays take an early 1-0 lead in top of the third inning as sophomore Nikayla Davis scored. ADM responded by tying the game in the bottom half of the inning after freshman Elliotte Von Roden was walked and was later hit in by sophomore Kinzie Maxwell to bring the game to a 1-1 tie.
The Tigers seemingly gained momentum as they followed it up by getting two runs across in the bottom of the fourth inning as freshman Aubrey Noring and senior Aniston Tollari scored to extend out to a 3-1 advantage. The Bluejays would draw a little closer when junior Mallory Nikkel was driven in by sophomore Alexis Havlovic, who made it a 3-2 deficit. ADM senior Madi James would give the Tigers a two run lead again in the bottom of the fifth inning. However, in the top of the sixth inning, Bondurant-Farrar got the offense going with a two-run homer from sophomore Maddie Martin, who scored sophomore Mya Pottebaum to tie things at 4-4. After that, Davis captured her second run of the game, giving the Bluejays a 5-4 advantage, which would take them to the win.
Leading the game for Bondurant-Farrar was Nikkel, who was 4-4 on the night and one run scored. On the Tigers’ side, Noring was 3-4 and also garnered one run in the game. Winning pitcher was the Bluejays’ Havlovic, as she completed five innings, allowed seven hits, four runs, walked four batters, and struck out three. Senior Chloe Thurlby came in to relief in the final two innings and had three strikeouts. The losing pitcher was ADM freshman Chloe Olthoff, who went all seven innings, allowed 12 hits, five runs, and struck out one batter.
Bondurant-Farrar is now 8-3 overall (1-2 inside the Raccoon River Conference) and will play in Boone on Thursday, as ADM is 6-5 overall (2-3 RRC) and will face off against Winterset in Adel tomorrow.
