Mayoral, City Council and School Board elections will be taking place in November, and there are some important dates that Adair County residents should be aware of.

According to Adair County Elections Official Nathan Reed, the first day to file nomination papers for the positions of city council, mayor or school board, is August 25th. The paperwork can be picked up at your respective school, the County Auditor’s office, or the Secretary of State’s website.

The deadline to file the paperwork to run for an office is September 18th at 5pm. Candidates for city council or mayoral positions must submit their paperwork to the Adair County Auditor’s Office, while those filing for school board positions must submit their paperwork with the respective school board secretary.

The City of Adair has the mayor and two city council positions up for election this year, while Greenfield and Stuart both have the mayor and three city council positions available in November. There are three at large positions that are up for election on the Adair – Casey School Board.
