The Menlo Fire and Rescue Department is holding a new fundraiser Saturday.

Fire Chief Dave Guisinger says that the department is wanting to begin doing a fundraiser around this time of year, and is holding a cookout this year. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio where some of the funds from the cookout will be going.

“Well, we’re getting a few new members, so we’re going to need fire gear for them. The rest of us, the ones that had been on (for a while), have all got new fire gear, so we have to get new gear for some of the other members that’s just joining, and just other items. Our air packs are gonna be needing replaced here in the next couple of three years, so we’re just all the time needing to update stuff to keep up with the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards.”

Guisinger mentions that there are two meal options for the cookout, which will be from 11am to 1pm, with a hamburger meal for $10 and a hot dog meal for $7. He adds that delivery is available in Menlo, those who need it just need to contact him by phone. There will also be a silent auction for individuals to participate in, with the drawing to take place at 1:30pm, and winners do not need to be present.
