The Greene County Historical Society invites everyone to take a trip to the eastern boundaries of the city of Jefferson for a program on Sunday.

Co-Executive Director Dianne Piepel will lead a presentation on soldiers of past wars at the Jefferson City Cemetery at 2pm. Piepel says with the 250th birthday of the United States coming up next year, she will talk about the individuals that are buried in the cemetery that served in the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War, Civil War, and the Spanish-American War. Organizers say that Piepel will also go over some of the ornately crafted gravestones of the some 8,000 that are in the cemetery.

Sunday’s program is free and open to the public.
