Tomorrow the Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center High School Marching Band will take part in the Carroll Band Days competition.

Senior Drum Major Allie DeWitt says that she enjoys being part of the marching band, helping to lead them through the competitions, parades and halftime shows they participate in. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio what she enjoys about performing at Carroll Band Days.

“I think just working as a whole team is a really fun part, but I also love seeing the other bands and seeing how they do and what they do differently.”

DeWitt shares that she believes that they have a good show for their performance, and that the group does well in making sure their sound blends like it should. Band Director Kyra Babcock mentions why the marching band goes to competitions.

“If you take a kid to any competition, they are going to feel the need to work harder. So they look good and sound good when they get there. Giving them a goal motivates them to do better. So that’s the main reason why we go to competitions is to improve.”

AC/GC will perform in the parade in Carroll in the morning, and will have enough time to return to Guthrie Center so members will be able to take part in the finale of the Homecoming festivities.
