The AC/GC Charger football team remains undefeated in regular season play for the third year in a row after their 55-22 victory Friday night.

The Class A 3rd Ranked Chargers hosted the Class A 9th Ranked Riverside Bulldogs, and gave everyone the show they were looking for in the first quarter, finishing it tied 7-7. The second quarter was all AC/GC though, as the team scored several times to go up 42-7 going into halftime. One thing that helped them in this effort was the ability of senior kicker Oliver Wetzel, who placed the ball wherever he was asked to on kickoff, which helped the team get an onside kick to take the other way for a score on the ensuing drive.

The third quarter saw both teams score once again, with the Chargers keeping a 49-13 lead. Both teams scored again in the final quarter, leading to the 55-22 final score.

The Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts Players of the game were the entire offensive backfield, with Ryder Cline, Brexton Schneider and Joe Crawford each going off for some big rushes. For the defensive player of the game, it was Xander Harwood and Angel Martinez, who both had a nose for the ball, especially Martinez since he came back from a hamstring injury. Wetzel was named the special teams player of the game for his expertise and precision in placing the ball where the coaches wanted it. The Jefferson Monument Works Longest Drive of the Game started on the Chargers 22 yard line, and included a two yard gain from Cline, then a 76 yard touchdown run by Crawford. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the Game was a toss up between two plays by Martinez, an onside kick recovery and fumble recovery.
