With Mustangs Volleyball making a valiant push towards a state title but ultimately coming up short in the quarterfinals, the fall activities calendar comes to a close for DCG, and what a successful season it was with multiple teams earning top finishes in state.
In their first year of football in class 5A, the Mustangs made it to substate with a remarkable 7-3 record, one round short of the top eight teams in Iowa. An incredible turnaround after winning two games the year prior.
In cross country, the boys team placed in the top 10 with a 6th place finish in Fort Dodge. The girls squad had better luck from top runners Piper Messerly and Tenley Heidgerken who finished 1st and 3rd in state respectively. Their times paced the Mustangs to a 4th place mark in the team event.
The boys golf team appeared in the state finals for the first time as a member of class 4A while Drake Jordan and Jackson Zeller both scored in the top ten.
What a fall for Mustang sports!
