The 15th annual Art on the Prairie Festival is happening in Perry today and tomorrow for everyone to enjoy.

Board Member Bethany Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the event includes displays from 51 visual artists, 36 musicians, and 14 poets from all over Iowa. She describes that the festival will span over nine buildings in the downtown area along 2nd Street. Wicks highlights that since it is the 15th anniversary, there will be special merchandise for people to purchase in the Myrtle Building.

“Like a Linocut Print, this is a limited edition print. Also on the merchandise table, we’re going to be having some candles, some 15 year t-shirts, some ceramic trays, magnets, key rings, and greeting cards.”

Board Member Lynsi Pasutti shares that Art on the Prairie is partnering with the Iowa Poetry Association, Poetry Palooza and Beaverdale Books to bring a new element of “Poetry on the Prairie,” which will feature readings, workshops, and an open mic segment. She illustrates that it will be held in the community room of the Perry Public Library. The festival itself is open to the public for free, taking place today from 10am to 5pm and tomorrow from 10am to 4pm. A full schedule of activities can be found by clicking here.
