The Mustangs boys golf team appeared in the 4A state championship for the first time in school history, and they had two members of their squad place in the top ten while earning 6th place against the best golf teams in the state of Iowa this year.

Their season began strong with a second place finish at the Briarwood Club of Ankeny, and they didn’t slow down there. In twelve official meets, the Mustangs finished top three in eleven of them, and never placed outside of the top five the whole year, and in a head-on meet in Norwalk, DCG squeaked out a win over the Warriors by just five strokes.

Four first-place finishes in their final six meets of the year had the Mustangs playing their best golf just in time for playoffs and a chance to compete in the 4A state championship for the first time in school history.

The two-day event saw great golf on the links at the Hyperion Field Club in Ankeny, Iowa, and that included DCG. Drake Jordan shot 150 with a low of 72 strokes to earn eighth place, which was tops among the Mustangs. Jackson Zeller was just one stroke behind with a total of 151 with 75 shots in his second day.

The two juniors led the team to a 6th-place finish in 2025, the first time DCG appeared in the 4A state competition. A very successful season for the Mustangs includes high hopes for 2026, as the team will return all but one golfer to their roster next season.
