A boil order has been issued for a portion of the city of Jefferson.
Public Works Director Dave Morlan tells Raccoon Valley Radio crews fixed a water main break that happened near the intersection of Grimmell Road and Westwood Drive. He says a boil order is now in effect for the areas along West Lincoln Way to Westwood and to Rushridge, and includes Greene County Medical Center. He states that water samples have been submitted, as per protocol when water service has been interrupted to fix a water main.
Morlan notes that the water is safe bathing, brushing teeth and doing laundry. He explains that the break happened Sunday morning and crews were having difficulty getting to the problem area due to equipment freezing up with the colder temperatures.
