The Stuart City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council appointed Trevor Nelson as interim council member to fill the vacant position left when David Doely stepped down, then heard from Wiley Chumos of 308 North Main Street, and approved accepting liquidated damages in the amount of $100,000 from McAninch Corporation for the delayed finish of their work for the Wambold 3rd Addition. They also approved a development agreement with Doely Holdings, LLC, and awarded the contract for the 2026 Street Improvement project to Grimes Asphalt and Paving for $172,768.50.

The Council then approved the 2025 Tax Increment Finance (TIF) Certificate, the annual financial report for the year ending June 30th, and set a date for a public hearing regarding a proposal to enter into a general obligation corporate purpose loan agreement for an amount not to exceed $1.325 million on the condition that they are able to receive some more information and clarification from financial counsel by November 19th. They finished the meeting by approving a settlement agreement with the rescue department.
